Since its discovery, Berkeley Springs has been built around healing. From its warm springs to its local healing practices. For twenty-four years, Berkeley Springs has held the Festival of Light to embrace the industry of healing and wellness.
Even though I was raised in this wonderful town, I didn’t take advantage of all of the amazing features it holds. It was only when I started working for Mountain Home Real Estate that I became aware of the various local shops and practices that are built on healing the mind, body, and spirit.
When I visited the Berkeley Springs Salt Cave for the first time, I was not sure of what the session would entail. However, from the second I walked through the door, I was blown away. My group and I were welcomed to a private room where we took our shoes off to sink our feet into the sand, lounged on comfy chairs, and inhaled refreshing scents of salt. The experiencerefreshed me after a long day. A while later, I found myself at the Berkeley Springs Healing Center for a group acupuncture session. I never did acupuncture prior and I had a slight fear of needles, but I was determined to step out of my comfort zone. Going in, I was greeted with an informative introduction to the purpose of acupuncture and how it works. It eased me a little, but my nerves were still shot.
We were escorted to a private room after the introduction as I nervously waited. When the time came I closed my eyes, expecting the worst. For the next hour, I nearly fell asleep from how relaxed I felt. While it scared me in the beginning, it was definitely worth it.
The Festival of Light is all about this celebration of bettering the mind, body, and soul. It will be held November 11-12, 2023, at the ICE House. The event consists of various lectures from expert speakers who will share their knowledge of healing and wellness. Plus, activities such as tarot cards, astrology, crystals, numerology, acupuncture, and more will be offered or presented.
With Veterans Day coming up, a holiday meant to celebrate the hard-working military, first responders, and their families, The Festival of Light is the perfect place to heal injuries and connect to your soul.
Since it is being held right in town, when the event is over, you only have to walk a few minutes to find one of Berkeley Springs’ delicious restaurants. After your day of healing and wellness, you won’t be able to help but fall asleep in the cozy bed of your vacation home or hotel room. I know I will definitely be sleeping peacefully after a day of resetting.
