Over 200 years ago, George Washington visited the Town of Bath for the first time. He stumbled upon the hot springs and decided Berkeley Springs was the place of healing and relaxation. With the water at a constant 74 degrees, I can’t say I disagree with his opinion.
Now, Berkeley Springs is full of practices and folks who focus on nature’s rejuvenating properties. From soothing spas to food for the soul, the Town of Bath has it all! With George Washington’s Bathtub Celebration approaching, it is time to pencil in some of the relaxing activities Berkeley Springs has to offer.
Visiting one of the spas (RnR Spa, Atasia Spa, and The Renaissance Spa), is a definite must. The friendly staff knows the perfect techniques for a kneading massage. Or booking an appointment at The Old Roman Bath House to soak in naturally heated water sourced directly from the springs.
Find an activity at one of the local healers’ shops. Tejase Bodyworks has been known to heal or soothe injuries, both physically and of the mind. On the other hand, the Berkeley Springs Salt Cave is a great experience to breathe in the salt air and dip your feet in the sand, while calming music travels to your ears. It’s such a relaxing experience, that you may find yourself drifting into the dream world.
Maybe you will find yourself wandering into Marley Max Candles and More or SpiritFire. The sister companies are full of wonderfully scented candles, reiki, and other healing services.
A great way to follow a massage or soothing experience is by going back into nature with your newly refreshed mind. Take a hike along the trails of Cacapon State Park or journey to one of the various tourist destinations (Panorama Peak is a breathtaking view of three states and two rivers). You wouldn’t believe how unique the vegetation in West Virginia is.
Of course, a month of relaxation is never fully complete without some tasty meals.Recently opened, Mary’s Vegetarian Cafe is a great source for a scrumptious lunch. Or you could
reserve a table at Lot 12 for a five-star meal.
Finish the day off by spending the evening in one of Berkeley Springs Cottage Rentals’ spotless cabins. Curl up in the cozy living room with your significant other to enjoy your favorite movies. Or soak in the hot tub after a long walk in town.
Travel to Berkeley Springs to help us celebrate the Town of Bath this March!
